The lock system has three chambers with a total height of 10.7 meters. The walls of the lock is built of hewn stone, while the gates are made of wood. The gates are manually operated. Ulefoss lock was completely renovated in 2012.

Interlocking system switches from Norsjø, close to Ulefos Jernværk under Ulefoss old bridge. Tarnished for canal boats are at the top lock.

On both sides of the sluice plant is built rocky lensekar timber with cast concrete slab that separates the river and canal. Above lock system is a wait brew of wood. Along the canal is Lanna, which was previously an active center of Wimborne.

Simultaneously with the locks were built one nåledam as the 1960s were replaced with today's concrete dam. The eight-meter high Ulefoss waterfall is regulated and power plant is clearly visible from the locks.

Closest embarkation point for the canal boats, the former lock master residence, now Kafe lock. On the other side of the bridge is the former gate guarding the residence, which now houses Holla Historical Society.
