Fishing on the Telemark Canal

There are plenty of fish in the Telemark Canal: trout, perch, char, common whitefish, pike and tench. In the lower parts of the canal you can also buy a fishing license to fish for salmon and sea trout.

All fishing licenses for the Telemark Canal are available on inatur.no. Here you will find the most recent set of fishing rules and practical information for the various locations on the Telemark Canal.

Fishing licenses can be bought for the following locations:
•    In Skienselva from Frierfjorden to Skottfoss/Løveid (the second set of locks in the canal): Fishing license can be bought via SMS, or at inatur.no at Skienselva/Porsgrunnselva.
•    Norsjø to Notodden: Fishing rules and purchase of fishing license can be found on inatur.no.
•    Tokkeåi and Bandak: Fishing rules and purchase of fishing license can be found on inatur.no.
There are unfortunately no organized fishing licenses between Ulefoss and the municipality border of Tokke in Bandak.
