Slipways along the Telemark Canal

There are a large number of launching ramps that can be used in connection with your journey on the Telemark Canal. Some of them are located on the coast before the first lock of the canal – Skien, others are located along the canal or in one of the associated lakes. Below you will find some information about the various launching ramps and where to find it.

Langesund
By Stoa harbour 800 meters from Langesund city centre.

Nystrand
When traveling on the motorway E-18 from Oslo: turn right towards Porsgrunn after Telemarksporten. After about 200 meters turn right again towards Langangen/Bjønnes and follow the road for about 800 meters then turn right again (in the Lillegårdskrysset). Drive past Olavsberget campsite in the direction to Brevik. Turn left to the harbour of Nystrand. Ramp on the concrete deck. Municipality car park.

Skien 
In Skien river by Bøle boat association facility. Drive in just south of the company AS Haugerød and Nilsen on the eastern main road between Skien and Porsgrunn.
At Upper Løveid – on the upper side of the Løveid locks. Turn towards Skotfoss town center, follow the signs to Pollen (at the end of the stretch the road turns narrow). Paved ramp. Separate parking right at the launch site (note: often busy).
At Fjærekilen in Norsjø, about 200 meters before grocery store Joker in Klovholt (direction from Skien) by the road 36. Moulded ramp. Relatively secure parking. 

Akkerhaugen
At Akkerhaugen boat association harbour facility, Norsjø. Gravely ramp. Guard company inspects the marina. Contact person: Johannes, Akkerhaugen phone: +47 90 02 88 65

Hjuksebø
Idyllic harbour at Heddalsvannet, Hjuksebø boat association launching ramp. Moulded ramp.

Notodden
At the Notodden canal pier. Moulded ramp.

Ulefoss
At the new guest bridge facility. Gravely ramp.

Lunde
Ajersida, on the opposite river side of Lunde lock. Ramp with concrete. On-site parking. Kåsa logging site (on the eastern river side between Hogga and Strengen). Concrete ramp at the north end of the plant. Allowed to park car/trailer on the site during boat trip on the canal.

Strengen
At the bottom of Flåvann between Strengen bridge and Flåbygd Handelsag (now closed). Gravely ramp. Relatively secure parking. 

Omnes 
Flåvann. fixed cover on the ramp. Safe parking/exit behind locked boom for a fee. Contact Elling Omnes, +47 95 76 86 07 (Omnes camping).

Kilen Holiday Center
Flåvann. For boats up to 16 feet. Gravely ramp. Relatively secure parking at the store. 

Kviteseid
At the Kviteseid pier. Relatively secure parking.
In the stream between Bandak and Kviteseidvatn, about 500 meters west of Spjotsodd pier. Moulded ramp. A bit difficult to park.

Lårdal
At the campsite. Fixed cover on the ramp. Relatively secure parking.

Dalen
By Tokke boat association harbour facilities. Fixed cover on the ramp. Relatively secure parking.
