The first week of August is the annual Blues festivals at Notodden. You will experience music in a different way, where the streets are alive and full of people. We recommend making the journey a part of the experience. Notodden is not only Norway’s Blues capital, the city is also a port city, although it is located in the middle of Telemark. To get to Notodden just follow the Telemark Canal, you can take your boat from the coast and into the pier by the Bok & Blues house if you want.
The entrance to Telemark and Notodden is Langesund. From there, the boat trip goes to Porsgrunn and Skien, though two locks up to Norsjø, further across the Heddalwater – and you’re there! Notodden has two guest harbours and a guest pier. There is a short distance from the two piers to the festival area.
Due to possible waiting and que at the locks, it is a good idea to calculate a day’s trip each way, however the beautiful nature may attract you to stay longer.
